Dr. Omar Ezzeldine is the Director of Professional Development for the Santa Ana Unified School District in Orange County, CA. Previously, Dr. Ezzeldine worked at the Los Angeles County Office of Education where he supported development of Transitional Kindergarten programs across Los Angeles County’s 81 school districts. Dr. Omar Ezzeldine has been an educator for over 20 years and in that time he has served as a teacher and a principal for both public and private schools, including Islamic Schools. He earned his doctorate from UCLA in Educational Leadership and has since worked nationally and internationally to support schools in their development, particularly in the area of increasing student achievement and in developing effective school leaders. He was Principal of the Emirates National School from 2013-2015. Prior to his work overseas, Dr. Ezzeldine served as a coach for teachers and principals. In that time, he worked with a wide range of teachers and administrators throughout California to develop classrooms and schools that were focused on student achievement, effective use of instructional materials, and data-driven decision-making. Through his work with districts including Stockton Unified, LA Unified, Chino Valley, Capistrano Valley, Bellflower, Barstow, and Paso Robles just to name a few, he helped principals hold their teachers more accountable and teachers to create engaging lessons that yielded high student achievement. Prior to that, he served 6 years as an accomplished school administrator where he won awards including Administrator of the Year. In addition to his current position, he serves as an adjunct professor for the USC Rossier School of Education. His focus has been to develop teachers, school leaders, increase student achievement and engender a culture that values education as a gateway to civic and international engagement.
